Cops Pick Up Trio With Gun, Knife After Cell Phone Robbery

When a man called the 911 emergency operator on Thursday, May 25 at 5:15 a.m. to say he had just been robbed of his cell phone at the corner of East 98th Street and Glenwood Road by three men, two of whom had a gun and a knife, 69th Precinct police went into action.

The victim said the thieves fled on foot after robbing him and one man had a gun and another had a knife, so local police cautiously began to canvass the entire area as they looked for the suspect and for possible clues.

It wasn't long before one of the suspects was found cowering in a stairwell in the rear of a building on East 101st St. and toting a pellet gun. The other two men were discovered hiding nearby and one allegedly possessed a knife and the other had the victim's cell phone, police said. No names were released and all were charged with robbery.
