Shots Fired In Daylight Robbery On B-6 Bus

Pandemonium broke loose on the B-6 city bus last Friday when a passenger fired three shots into the air while robbing a fellow passenger, po-lice said. The suspect got away as all the passengers on the bus also fled.

Patrol officers from the 69th Precinct said the bus driver, whose name was not released, said as he arrived near the corner of East 96th Street and Flatlands Avenue at about 3:50 p.m. he heard three “popping” noises and passengers screaming and telling him to open the door because “someone is shooting.” He opened the front and rear doors and the passengers — as well as the shooter — fled.

Later, a man told police that the shooter had been sitting next to him on the bus robbed him and fired his gun at him. The man was not injured.

Anyone who might have additional information, or who might have been on the bus and recognized the shooter, is asked to call the local detective squad at (718) 257-6215 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS. Police stress that the caller’s identity will be kept strictly confidential.
