Brooklyn Shelter Homeless Cats Waiting To Be Adopted

Ed Bok
It’s kitty season again! That means Animal Care & Control (AC&C) on Linden Boulevard is bursting with homeless cats and kittens. Felines have been arriving at the Center at a rate that exceeds their ability to adopt these animals out.

AC&C wants to end euthanasia as a means to control pet overpopulation and, as a result, it is actually down 25 percent, said executive director Ed Boks. “But the current influx of lost and homeless cats means AC&C may have to euthanize healthy pets if Brooklynites don’t respond quickly. We simply don’t have the space to humanely care for the 90 or more cats we receive every day,” he added. “Together we can end the needless killing of these wonderful pets.”

AC&C is cutting cat adoption fees to $30.00 for one cat and $45.00 for two. Two cats are better than one because cats are social animals needing each other’s company while you are at work.

AC&C is the pet adoption center of choice, with hundreds of wonderful cats and dogs. And each adoption includes spay/ neuter surgery, vaccinations and a free veterinary visit.

When you adopt from AC&C, you save a life and enhance your own. Pets are a source of tremendous joy and added health benefits. Studies show people with pets have lower blood pressure and cholesterol.

Pet overpopulation is a community problem that can only be solved with community involvement. AC&C is encouraging Brooklyn residents to visit the Linden Boulevard Animal Care Center to adopt a pet.

Every person who adopts a pet helps NYC take one more step to becoming the first major “No Kill” City in the country.
