Cyclones Ethnic Nights To Stir Up City’s Melting Pot

Have you ever wondered who can eat the most matzoh balls in a single sitting? If this question has been plaguing you, then you won’t want to miss Jewish night with the Brooklyn Cyclones this summer at KeySpan Park. This wacky contest is just one of the many highlights as we celebrate some of the cultures that make New York so great. These theme nights will feature a host of different performances, giveaways, and contests.

Our season of culture-filled nights kicks off July 7 with Irish Night, which will feature a pipe band and Irish step dancers. Fans will receive green t-shirts to show off their true Irish pride, and Cyclones players will be wearing green hats. The Highland Rovers will perform after the ballgame.

Jewish Night will be held August 4, and in addition to that matzoh ball eating contest, fans will try setting a world record for the largest Hora dance before the ballgame.

The first pitch on African-American Night, August 6, will be thrown out by Negro League players. Players will wear Negro League jerseys and the first 2,500 fans will each receive a Jackie Robinson DVD.

Latin Night dances into KeySpan on August 16, and will include salsa dancers, a roaming mariachi band, and a full inning will be announced in Spanish. Fans can even take a salsa lesson on the concourse during the game, and stick around for a post-game concert.

A bocce tournament is scheduled for Italian Night on August 18. Italian chefs can enter the “Best Sauce since Grandma’s” contest before the ballgame. A Frank Sinatra impressionist will also be on hand to entertain. Cyclones players will be wearing red, white, and green hats during the game.

Russian dancers, singers, and musi-cians will all perform as Russian Night is celebrated on August 28th in a tribute to the beautiful art form.

Great seats are still available for our 2005 season, including the ethnic nights. To order Cyclones tickets call 718-507-TIXX or log on to www.brook-lyncyclones.com.
