TV Q & A
A: Yes, she is leaving after one season and was never slated to appear any longer than that. * * * Q: Whatever happened to Shelley Hack? I remember her from “Charlie’s Angels” and always admired her. Karen R. A: Shelley became an “Angel” after Kate Jackson left the series. However, somehow, she never caught on and was let go after just one season. She has appeared in a number of TV shows and theatrical productions. The last big thing she was on was an episode of “Diagnosis Murder” in 1997. Active in politics and political fund-raising, she is married to director Harry Winer, with whom she shares a son. * * * Q: I watched the recent 50th anniversary of Warner Bros. TV shows on TVLand, and I was wondering about “Eight Is Enough.” Some time back, I heard that something tragic happened to the young woman who portrayed the oldest daughter, Mary, on the show. Can you tell me what that was? I don’t really recall. Jeannine V. A: Lani O’Grady, who suffered for years from depression, died of an apparent drug overdose a few years ago. She was in her late 40s. She was the sister of Don Grady, who portrayed Robbie on “My Three Sons.” * * * Q: Please tell me that there will be another season of “The Sopranos” on HBO! I’d heard that next season was going to be their last. Helen K. A: The show’s creator, David Chase, is talking to HBO about doing a seventh season. The sixth season, which you’ve mentioned, won’t be on the air until next spring, although it is currently in production. No decision has been reached as of this writing.
