Suspect Arrested After Returning To Scene Of Month-Old Assault

By Charles Rogers

A resident of Breukelen Houses last week got some satisfaction and a little revenge when a man who had beat and kicked him until he was unconscious back on April 16th was picked up last Wednesday and arrested.

According to police sources, Curtis Johnson, 21, was milling around the hallway of his project apartment building on Williams Avenue when the 46-year-old victim, whose name was not released, said something to him and an argument ensued. As the older man walked away, Williams allegedly struck him on the head from behind, knocking him to the ground outside the entrance to the building. The man tried to get up, but Johnson kicked him until he became unconscious.

When the victim woke up, he went upstairs and told his wife, who called police. Officers from the 69th Precinct went on a hunt for the suspect with no results, although they found out who he was and what apartment he lived in.

Finally, on May 11, police received a tip that Johnson had returned to his apartment and they arrested him, charg-ing him with assault.
