Temple Sholom Cantor Chosen For Appearance Before Pope John Paul

Temple Sholom’s Cantor Shor
Cantor Steve Shor of Temple Sholom in Mill Basin has been chosen by the Jewish Ministers Cantors Association of America and Canada, a professional group representing thousands of cantors worldwide, to be part of a 15-member delegation to appear before Pope John Paul at the Vatican on January 18. The mission, which also includes a concert for bishops and others of high rank at Rome’s “Great Synagogue,” celebrates the improved relations between Catholics and Jews. Cantor Shor, a lyric tenor, will perform the Schechiyanu, a traditional tune to which he adds exciting changes in rhythm and timing.
