Brooklyn Celebrates Jamaica’s Independence
Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz and Consul General of Jamaica to New York, the Honorable Basil K. Bryan, recently hosted a celebration in honor of Jamaica’s 43rd anniversary of independence. The Caribbean island was formally freed from British occupation and colonization on August 6, 1962.
Flanking Dr. Bryan are Deputy Borough President Yvonne Graham, a native of Jamaica and former City Councilwoman Una S.T. Clarke, at the Jamaican Independence Day celebration at Borough Hall.
