Conklin Avenue House Gutted By Two-Alarm Blaze

Firefighters were dispatched to a Conklin Avenue home early Monday morning to fight a two-alarm blaze that broke out about 2:45 a.m. Fire Department officials said the blaze began in the basement of 268 Conklin Avenue (between East 98 and 99 streets) then quickly spread through the two-story wood frame house. It took firefighters nearly an hour to bring the fire under control, but not before the building was severely damaged.
