On Sunday, December 26th, the Feast Of The Holy Family, Bishop Di Marzio will visit our parish. As we journey toward our 125th Anniversary, Bishop Nicholas Di Marzio is coming to celebrate the 12:45 Mass on the feast of the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph, our parish feast day.

The Bishop is also coming to give a special blessing to all our families on this occasion.

All are invited and there will be fellowship with the Bishop and one another after the Mass and blessing in our parish hall. Each family invite another family!

Our pantry is always in need of food. At this time we are also in need of canned items such as sweet potatoes, White potatoes, applesauce and sliced peaches. Anyone who is interested in making a donation towards our Christmas decorations is asked to fill in one of the flyers in the bulletin and return it to the Rectory by December 20th. Donations can be made In Memory Of or In Honor Of your loved ones.

We will have a Holiday Flea Market on Saturday, December 18th and Sunday, December 19th in the Parish Hall.

On the first Friday of each month, there is Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament beginning at 10 am in the Parish Center Chapel. Exposition concludes with Benediction at noon. All are invited to spend some time before the Blessed Sacrament to pray for world peace and the needs of our parish community.

The Parish Reconciliation Service in preparation for Christmas will take place on Saturday, December 18th at 4:00 pm in the Church.

Shrine Of St. Jude

Bi-Lingual Masses: The 12:30 PM Mass is our Bi-lingual Mass. The first reading, the psalm and some of the hymns will be in the language of the day.

In our Narthex, is a very special tree. The Advent Giving Tree. It is a response to the prophets’ cry for others, justice and hope of a better world. Our parish family is asked to contribute Christmas gifts for the needy. The ornaments on the tree are labeled with gifts needed by children and adults. Please take an ornament, buy a gift (which is on the label) wrap it in Christmas paper and tape the ornament to the gifts. Please bring the gift to church and place it in the Narthex by the blessed Christmas for those in need at Our Lady of Presentation Parish, Frances residence at CHIPS, the Brooklyn Development Center and those in our own parish.

October 2004-2005 has been declared “Year of the Eucharist” to help us fully and actively participate and appreciate the Mass more. As part of that, new directives for Mass have recently been issued by the Vatican. Our staff recently attended a workshop for all the parishes in the Diocese of Brooklyn.

On November 1st, we began to consecrate the hosts we will use at each mass and not go to the Tabernacle. This is done to focus on the Altar as the place of the sacrificial meal. We also prepare the wine in the cups before Mass and Holy Communion. Please call Msgr. John, Fr. Mike or Sr. Mary to see what can be done so you can receive.

Yeshiva

The Canarsie Community Yeshiva located at 1387 East 96th Street extends a gracious welcome to the entire Jewish community.

We are announcing that registration is ongoing for our community Yeshiva. Classes are held Sunday thru Wednesday evenings at the Yeshiva.

Classes are open to men and women of all ages. Young and old alike are afforded an opportunity to enroll in a Yeshiva program.
