Mayor Michael Bloomberg appeared at I.S 285, 5909 Beverly Road, last Thursday to address the Guyana Institute for Democracy (C-GID) civic meeting. Speaking in front of a packed auditorium, Bloomberg updated the community about his plans, and what he is doing to aid the Caribbean nations ravaged by recent hurricanes. He informed them that after his trip earlier this year to Haiti, he would surely do “whatever it takes” to assist the devastated islands countries. He said his administration is working with supermarkets to help send food and water supplies to these islands. Bloomberg also assured everyone that the crime rate is down and congratulated I.S 285 for scoring high on recent state test scores results. Since the devastation in the Caribbean, C-GID has been working over time to try bringing assistance not only to Guyana, but also to Haiti and Jamaica
