Moving 9/11 Anniversary Ceremony In Marine Park
Several hundred residents from nearby communities paused to take time from their weekend routines last Saturday to attend a moving Sept-ember 11 commemoration ceremony hosted by State Senator Marty Golden in Marine Park that remembered the thousands of lives that were lost and the soldiers who have given their lives in the ongoing war on terror.
Hours after parents of trade center victims read loved ones’ names at Ground Zero in lower Manhattan, Golden opened the ceremony, which marked the third anniversary of the terrorist attack that destroyed the World Trade Center in 2001. Digni-taries at the local ceremony included State Senator Carl Kruger, Assembly Members Frank Seddio and Helene Weinstein, City Council Members Lew Fidler and Dominic Recchia, Community Board 18 representatives Dorothy Turano and Saul Needle, Marine Park Civic Association president Carmine Carro, as well as police officers from the 63rd Precinct and other guests.
