Detectives from the 69th Precinct are looking for two men who robbed a popular Rockaway Parkway newsstand at gunpoint early last Monday.

According to Detective Sergeant Chris Minoque, the robbery took place at about 4 a.m. at the S.H.A. Grocery, 1836 Rockaway Parkway, at the corner of Avenue M.

"Two men wearing black masks entered the store and immediately displayed handguns," said Minoque. "They told one of the two workers to lie down on the floor and then took another worker to a rear bathroom and locked him inside." He said there were no customers in the store at the time.

The thieves removed currency garnered from the store’s Lotto machine and then had the worker open the cash register, from which they grabbed more cash. The total amount stolen was approximately $400, according to police.

Anyone with information is asked to call the 69th Precinct Detective Squad at (718) 257-6215. All calls will be kept confidential.
