East 80 St. Resident Slashed Walking Near Glenwood Road

Police from the 69th Precinct reported a 21-year-old Canarsie woman was slashed on the neck while walking near East 80 Street and Glenwood Road on Wednesday, May 4.

According to officials from the local detective squad, the woman, whose name was not released, became embroiled in an argument with two other women at about 6 p.m. when one of them produced a knife from her purse and began slashing at the victim. The attacker and her friend then turned and fled south on foot on East 80 Street towards Flatlands Avenue.

Witnesses called 911 and patroll-ing police who came to the scene canvassed the area with negative results. Emergency Medical Service paramedics tended to the victim and brought her to Brookdale Hospital. Detectives said the woman’s wounds were not life threatening.

There was no distinctive description given for the attacker and her accomplice except that they were both black, about 21 years of age and one had red hair.
