CONSOLATION PRIZE - My children love to play board games. However, the loser is always disappointed, especially when it’s the youngest child. To cheer him up, I give out a little treat, such as a little candy bar. That way, he doesn’t mind losing so much. In fact, I’m beginning to suspect he sometimes deliberately throws the game! Mandy D.

HAMBURGER HELPER - The best burgers are made with chuck as opposed to sirloin or ground round. They’re just juicier and tastier. However, you don’t need to worry so much about the extra fat since it cooks out during broiling or grilling. To keep them juicy, try to avoid handling them so much, doing so only gently. Whatever you do, don’t press them with a spatula as they’re cooking. Amelia K.

SPACE SAVER - To increase freezer space and keep it from getting overly stuffed, freeze your meatballs, sauces, stews, etc., in plastic, zipper-type bags. Be sure to press out all the air before pressing them flat. Then you can stack them. Also be sure to label everything. Rita B.

OOPS! - If someone accidentally drops an egg on the floor, cover it with salt and let it set for about two minutes. The salt will absorb most of the egg, which will make it easier to clean up. Wilma L.

PLAY TIME - My 8-year-old daughter loves to play with her bead crafts kit. I always lay the beads out on a baking sheet first. This way, they don’t roll off the table and get lost. Edna V.
