Arrest 15-Year-Old In Shooting Of Three Teens On Ralph Avenue
Police last week arrested a 15-year old resident of East 56 Street in East Flatbush and charged him in the shooting of three teenagers on Ralph Avenue on October 17.
The youth, whose name was not released because of his age, was charged with three counts of assault in the first degree and criminal possession of a weapon, according to Detective Carmine Amalfitano, who made the arrest.
"As far as motive is concerned," said the detective, "so far it can only be determined that the suspect had a dispute with one of the victims the previous day."
The gun used in the shooting has not yet been recovered, he said.
The victims were standing at a bus stop on Ralph Avenue near Farragut Road, across the street from the Glenwood Houses complex when the the suspect fired a fusillade of bullets across four lanes of traffic on Ralph Avenue. Two 15-year-old victims were hit in the leg and a 16-year-old was grazed across the chest.
All three were taken to Brookdale Hospital where they were treated and released.
"We have to give credit to witnesses and members of the community who came forward with information on this case that enabled us to find and arrest the suspect," said Amalfitano. "It’s this kind of involvement that resolves cases and leads to the prevention of more violence in the future."
