Creating smiles on the faces of children and joy in the hearts of all, is the reason why Marty and Iris have been a team for the past thirty years specializing in magic shows, face painting and fun for a wide variety of events and special occasions.

"We are having the most fun in our lives because we are making people happy and we love what we do," said Marty as he made a handkerchief disappear and magically appear out of my ear.

Magic and the arts have been in Marty and Iris’ hearts ever since they were young and their mutual passions brought them together at the age of sixteen and has kept them together for thirty-nine years.

"We were high school sweethearts who got married because we had similar interests and a desire to bring joy to people’s lives through what we could do," said Iris as she proudly showed me pictures of a recent international face painters convention in Orlando, Florida where she competed in a face painters competition amongst hundreds and finished in the top ten.

Iris picked up her love for the arts through her parents who were both artists. Their artistic background developed a desire in her to pursue a career as an art teacher. Marty performed magic as a child but began his career as a comedian and store-to-store salesman.

"I used to do stand up comedy and one day a magician who performed with me didn’t show up so I filled in and I discovered the love of magic from that day on," said Marty.

After years of perfecting his magic on stage and incorporating magic while selling products to his customers, Marty was laid off from his job and Iris retired after twenty-five years of teaching. Unsure of what to do next in life, they decided to put their talents together. While Marty would perform magic tricks Iris would face paint.

"The first time we worked together it was nerve racking," said Marty as his wife laughed while nodding her head. "But it turned out well and from that day we knew it was something we could do together and enjoy."

Today they have a thriving business as they are widely sought after to perform birthday parties, confirmations, bar and bat mitzvahs, corporate events, street fairs, carnivals, picnics and holiday parties, performing magic shows, face painting, balloon twisting, sand art and story telling. They also perform at senior centers and children camps throughout the city. They can be seen locally entertaining at Wendy’s at East 79 Street and Flatlands Avenue and also on Bay Parkway.

"We guarantee good family fun from two trained professionals who truly love their crafts," said Marty who is Vice President of Ring 317 of the International Brotherhood of Magicians for 2003 and belongs to SAM (Society of American Magicians).
