Doctors, lawyers, educators, a judge, New York City firefighters and police officers, and U.S. Army recruiters – but no Indian chiefs — were among the dozens of professionals who took part in last week’s annual Career Day Symposium at Public School 115.

For the last several years career professionals from a variety of fields, including civil service, education, telecommunications and journalism, participate in the career day event at the elementary school on East 92 Street.

Principal Mitchell Pinsky explained the relevance of Career Day. "Though it may be premature for elementary school students to start choosing a particular career, it’s never too early to expose children to an enriched body of experiences that these professionals relate to them. Furthermore, it gives them insight into the educational requirements necessary to achieving an eventual choice."

Firefighters from the Rockaway Parkway firehouse, “Canarsie’s Bravest,” took part in last week’s P.S. 115 Career Day activities when they drove their truck into the schoolyard to discuss a few techinques for several third grade classes.
