ARMED BANDITS ROB EAST 89 ST. HOME

By Charles Rogers

Three masked men pushed their way into a private residence on East 89 Street near Farragut Road last Thursday afternoon with guns drawn and, after ordering the two occupants of the house into a rear bedroom, escaped with an undetermined amount of money.

According to Sergeant James O’Neill of the 69 Precinct Detective Squad, the home invasion took place in broad daylight "while general afternoon pedestrian and vehicular traffic went back and forth in front of the house."

"The only description we have of the perpetrators is that there were three black men wearing masks," O’Neill said. "The occupants of the house were very shaken up, naturally."

He said the two residents, a male and a female, were spending a quiet day at home when the front doorbell rang. The female answered the door and was immediately confronted by the three intruders who pushed their way into the house and brandished handguns.

"They asked where the safe was and removed all the cash from it," O’Neill said. "Then they ordered the occupants into a rear bedroom and fled." He said the victims could not determine which direction or by what means the perpetrators fled.

The case is being handled by Detective Frank Agostini. Anyone with information is asked to call him at 1-718-257-6215. All calls will be kept strictly confidential.
