Bandits Rob Bayview Place Home; Rape Female Resident

By Charles Rogers

Police are looking for two men who forced their way into a Bayview Place residence last weekend, ransacked and robbed it and then raped a female occupant who returned home unaware they were on the premises.

According to Detective Sergeant James O’Neill of the 69th Precinct, the incident occurred last Saturday, January 18. The 29-year-old resident of the home near East 88 Street said he was arriving home at about 2:45 a.m. and was confronted by two men, one of whom displayed a silver handgun. The men forced the resident into the house and said, "Give us the money and the drugs!" They tied the victim with rope and then proceeded to search and ransack the house.

"While they were searching for money and drugs, the female victim arrived home, unaware that the thieves were there," Sergeant O’Neill said. "She went into the bathroom and one of the attackers forced open the bathroom door, aimed the gun at her and forced her into another room where she was blindfolded and also tied up." He said both intruders then raped the woman and then fled in an unknown direction. Details about the woman’s identity, including her age, were withheld by police.

The male victim was able to free himself and called police. The woman was taken to Brookdale Hospital by Emergency Medical Service paramedics. She was treated and released. The man, who received a cut on his hand, refused medical treatment, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the 69th Precinct Detective Squad at 257-6215. All calls will be kept strictly confidential.
