Thieves Crash Truck Into Georgetown Bank; Take Cash From ATMs

Local police and federal agents were comparing notes last Monday as they investigated the circumstances surrounding the break-in robbery at the HSBC Bank at 2141 Ralph Avenue in the Georgetown Shopping Center.

NYPD spokesperson Dora Kalboeros said the incident involved "literally a break-in," because a trailer truck backed into the bank’s window at about 4 a.m,, enabling the thieves to raid some ATMs on the premises. They left the truck and fled in an unknown direction "by other means."

The amount of cash taken is undetermined, according to Kalboeros, who said police and other agents are currently checking out the ownership of the truck. Officials at the bank said they could not comment on the robbery.

Anyone with information is asked to call (212)577-TIPS. Calls will be kept confidential. Charles Rogers
