SHOWTIME will premiere the original picture RUBY’S BUCKET OF BLOOD, the story of a beautiful woman who runs a popular juke joint on the Louisiana bayou in 1960 on Saturday, December 1sty at 8:00 p.m. (ET/PT).

Academy Award(r)-nominee and Golden GlobeTM-winner Angela Bassett ("Music of the Heart," stars as club owner Ruby Delacroix, who reluctantly hires white singer Billy Dupre (KEVIN ANDERSON) to fill in after she loses her star performer. To Ruby’s surprise, passions flare between her and her new employee and the consequences are devastating.

Life has dealt Ruby Delacroix (ANGELA BASSETT) a rough hand. There’s too much work and not enough love. She and her teenage daughter Emerald (JURNEE SMOLLETT) don’t always see eye to eye and her husband Earl (BRIAN STOKES MITCHELL) is cold and distant. At night, though, Ruby comes alive at her club. She’s in her element, swaying to the soulful house band headed by Johnny Beaugh (GLENN PLUMMER). When Johnny’s lead singer quits the band, Ruby reluctantly hires a white singer named Billy Dupre (KEVIN ANDERSON) to fill in. Immediately, Billy’s talent mesmerizes Ruby and her patrons. Ruby is transfixed by the sound of his voice and his sexy, good looks. Dissatisfied with his life, Ruby’s husband Earl decides to leave their backwater town. With Earl gone, Ruby’s attraction to Dupre grows stronger each time they meet. Now the only person who stands between their dangerous attraction is Billy’s suspicious wife (ANGELICA TORN).
