Fourteen people were injured — eight of them children — after two vans collided last Thursday afternoon at the intersection of East 83rd Street and Farragut Road, police said.

According to a report filed at the 69th Precinct, a 1987 Ford van carrying the children was traveling south on East 83rd Street when it collided with a 1988 Chevrolet van heading west on Farragut Road shortly after 4 p.m. on September 13th. The Ford continued past the intersection and crashed into the front of a brick house at 609 East 83rd Street. The house was damaged because of the crash, although the home owner was unable to assess what the damage was at the time.

The children, as well as the six passengers in the Chevrolet, were treated by Emergency Medical Service, paramedics at the scene and some were taken to area hospitals for further treatment. Police said the injuries to both parties appeared not to be life-threatening.
