The Jewish Community Council of Canarsie (JCCC) last week engineered the packaging and delivery of more than 800 Passover packages of food to senior citizens and at least 450 packages to the needy in the local area.

According to Rabbi Avrohom Hecht, executive director of the JCCC, some of the packages were gathered through the resources of City Harvest, Food For Survival, Met Council and the United Jewish Appeal Federation.

"We must thank a number of individuals," said Rabbi Hecht, "including Assemblyman Frank Seddio, State Senator John Sampson, the Tisch Family and the Leeder Family."

He also said he was grateful to the many volunteers who helped put the packages together, including Pantry Food Coordinator Olga Podlubnaya and Director of Social Services Mila Outen.
