Citywide Used Coat Drive On For Holiday Season
The 12th Annual New York Cares Coat Drive will be collecting gently used adult and children’s coats throughout December to give to New Yorkers in need. The annual drive, which will collect coats all over the metropolitan area from December 1st to 31st, distributes the coats to struggling men, women and children at New York homeless shelters, soup kitchens, community organizations, and centers for battered women.
Last year, the drive collected and distributed nearly 85,000 coats; this year, New York Cares hopes to collect and distribute 85,000 more.
To make donations easy, New York Cares, which was f ounded in 1987, has arranged for over 600 drop-off sites throughout the Metropolitan area.
Drop-off sites include:
• Any New York City Police Department facility at any time, day or night.
• Participating Blockbuster Video stores.
• Participating Home Depot stores.
• Participating Con Edison business offices.
• Participating Time Warner Cable payment centers.
