Kruger Vows To Prosecute ‘Wreath-Burner’ Under New State Hate-Crimes Legislation

After a series of incidents during which Christmas wreaths and other holiday articles on the front lawns and doors of homes in Marine Park were burned recently, authorities are promising to use the Hate Crimes Act to prosecute a suspect. So far, no one has been caught and held responsible for the vandalism.

According to State Senator Carl Kruger, a 24-hour hotline — (718) 368-9177 —has been established to solicit information regarding the incidents or the name of a possible suspect. All calls will be kept confidential.

The acts took place at no less than a dozen homes in the Nostrand Avenue section of Marine Park.

Kruger said he is working closely with Brooklyn South Chief Joseph Fox and the NYPD Bias Unit.
