Letters To The Editor Dear Editor: In Charles Rogers' November 23 column he accuses John Kerry of being "elitist," "smug" and "holier-than-thou," but it seems he missed the point by a mile about John Kerry's misspeak - much like the Republicans and others who thought they could use it to win an election. Was it ignorance or just plain narrow-mindedness that led to your senseless tirade? This inquiring reader wants to know. Besides, John Kerry's incident was yesterday's news by the time your column was published. You sounded like just another pro-war conservative who refuses to admit America's mistake in Iraq. Dear Inquiring Reader: In answer to your question, I can't really plead ignorance. Narrow-mindedness, perhaps, for which I will not apologize (it's an editorial opinion). It's not Kerry's misspeak that makes him a loser. It's his attitude. I stand by my statements that he is condescending and speaks down to the general population - and that's what defeated him in 2004 and will defeat him if he chooses to run in 2008. I admit my conservative leanings but please don't call me pro-war. I'm not. Also, about that admitting America's mistake, I would suggest you read my column of November 16, where my mea culpas are only interrupted by belches from eating so much crow. Thank you for writing.
