69th Precinct Community Council Plays Ball As ANew Season Gets Underway

Coach Fiore Cecchi talks to his players before they take the field to open the season.

For over forty years the 69th Precinct Community Council Baseball League has given thousands of community youths the opportunity to participate in the nation’s favorite national pastime every summer. On July 7, the league kicked off its summer season with 11 teams comprised of nearly 200 youngsters from five to fifteen. Current league president John Salo-gub admits opening day got off "to a slow start" with some teams short of players because of pre-scheduled vacations. He foresees another exciting season now through the last Monday in August.
