Cleanup Crew Aware Of Their Environment
 | | More than a dozen youths from the Canarsie AWARE Day Service School last week began a six-week program to beautify Canarsie Pier and the surrounding area. The cleanup, prompted by a $15,0000 grant from the New York City Environmental Fund, started on the shoreline west of the pier, and will continue twice a week through June 18. The project entails the 15-17-year-olds to remove floating debris from the water and the adjacent shoreline, as well as developing planting perennial garden beds on the pier.
