"Get Fit" Program

Hit the pavement for fun and health! You have the power to change your body and your life. Need a "GET FIT" partner... follow the lead of the New York City Animal Care & Control (AC&C) and adopt or foster a four-legged exercise partner.

Meet Bella... A five year old female boxer/terrier mix who, is at 97 lb and is morbidly obese, carrying more than double her body weight for her frame. She has been selected as the "GET FIT CANINE PARTNER" on the AC&C "GET FIT" team. Watch Bella slim down on the AC&C website:www.nycacc.org as monthly photos and weigh-in will be posted.

AC&C is preparing for the November 7th New York City Marathon emphasizing the importance of a healthy lifestyle for man and beast. A properly balanced diet with an appropriate exercise routine ensures a productive future for all team members.

Animals, like people, run the risk of added health issues when they are overweight. Heavy animals are deemed unattractive and thus have less opportunity to be adopted...join in and save a life!
