Teen Struck By Car Near South Shore H.S.

A 15-year-old girl was injured last Monday afternoon when she was struck by a 1992 Ford Suburban while crossing Flatlands Avenue near Ralph Avenue, police said. According to a 69th Precinct report, the teenager, a Foster Avenue resident, was treated at the scene by Emergency Medical Service paramedics and released. Police said the car was heading west shortly before 3 p.m. when the girl “skipped out” in front of it. The driver, a 39-year-old East 96 Street resident, tried to avoid hitting her, but sideswiped her. The car then crashed into a fire hydrant. Witnesses told police the accident occurred near South Shore High School east of the Ralph Avenue crosswalk. The driver was not charged. Charles Rogers
