Through The Ropes
By Josh Stewart

To prove that there is a more than World Wrestling Entertainment, it seems a good time to list all of the great wrestling events within driving distance in the coming weeks. Although the venues may be small and the py-rotechnics nonexistent, the chance to see some great action up close will be well worth the cramped quarters and simpler productions.

Mike Johnson at pwinsider.com is reporting that former American Wrest-ling Association World Heavyweight Champion Rick Martel will be making his first American appearance since his retirement on June 6 at the Wrest-ling Reunion Convention at the Holiday Inn in Carteret, NJ. Martel retired after a short run in World Championship Wrestling in the mid-’90s. He also had a long run in the World Wrestling Federation with the Can-Am Connec-tion and Strike Force tag teams, and later a solo run as "The Model."

Other stars appearing at the convention are Stan Hansen (who defeated Martel for the AWA champion-ship), a Killer Bees reunion featuring Jim Brunzell and B. Brian Blair, Ivan and Nikita Koloff, "Beautiful" Bobby Eaton, Johnny Valiant, Ivan Putski, referee Dick Woerhle and Ken Patera.

For further information on vendor tables and tickets to the Wrestling Reunion Convention, visit www. Wrest-lingReunion.com.

There will be a bus trip from New York City to the convention and to the Jersey All Pro Wrestling event that same evening in Rahway, NJ. For de-tails, e-mail agentclpt@aol.com.
