South Canarsie Civic Meeting

The South Canarsie Civic Association (not to be confused with the United Canarsie South Civic) will hold its next meeting on Monday, April 26 at 7:30 p.m. at the HES. Meeting Tuesday

Power Squadron Safe Boating Class

Weekly Chess Club

Mammogram

Low income women who feel they cannot get a mammogram are urged to call the Adelphi New York Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline and Support Program at 800-877-8077 to learn about where they can get a free or low cost mammogram.

Cardiac Rehab Program

If you have had a heart attack within the last year, a coronary bypass or angina in the last six months and if you have an okay from your physician, you’re a candidate for the Cardiac Rehabilitation and Exercise Program at Maimonides Medical Center.

Mother’s Day Tea & Tulip Festival At Wyckoff Farmhouse Museum

Free Sunday Concerts At KCC

Rights Symposium

The Caribbean American Center of New York (CACNY) and Trinidad & Tobago Independence Celebration Inc. (TATIC), in collaboration with the Kings County District Attorney’s office, will host an Information Seminar entitled "Empowerment Through Knowledge — Defend Your Rights As An Immigrant" on Wednesday, April 28 at 6 p.m. at the Trinidad & Tobago Consulate, 475 Fifth Avenue (at 41 Street), 4th Floor, Manhhattan. Canarsie History Fair Next Month

Officials of the Canarsie History Museum have announced the 2nd Annual Canarsie History Fair will take place on Sunday, May 16 from noon to 4 p.m. at the Canarsie Post 573 American Legion Hall, East 92 Street and Conklin Avenue. The city’s Animal Care and Control Centers need your help to save the lives of lost and homeless felines. The VIP/CSS Day Program for Seniors, located at 1310 Rockaway Parkway, a not-for-profit organization that provides support, structure and varied activities for Brooklyn seniors, has openings in its supportive day program. Interpreters Needed At Hospital

Volunteers who speak English and Russian, Spanish, Arabic, Hebrew, Italian or Chinese and are available 10 hours a week are needed at Maimonides Medical Center. For further information, call (718)283-3980.

Maimonides Needs Blood Donors

The blood bank at Maimonides Medical Center, like all blood banks in the region, is currently experiencing a severe blood shortage, especially of Type O-Positive and O-Negative blood. Other blood types are also needed. Please visit the Blood Donor Center on the 3rd floor of the administration building. The center is open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and noon to 5 p.m. on Sundays.For more information, or to arrange a blood drive, call Christine Clark at (718) 283-7179.

Girl Scouts Meet Twice A Month

Girl Scouts hold their meetings on the first and third Sunday of every month at Mary Queen of Heaven Church’s Monsignor Burns Parish Center, East 57 Street and Avenue M in the Teen Club Room. The meetings are held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
