TV Q&A

By Evelyn Ludvigson

2004 DBR Media, NC

Q: What can you tell me about Michael Welch, who plays Joan’s (Amber Tamblyn) younger brother, Luke, on "Joan of Arcadia"? While the focus of the show is on Joan, I really enjoy his performance. Lillian T.

A: The talented Welch is 16 years old. He’s enrolled in an independent study program and has a teacher who’s on the set with him. When he doesn’t have to be in front of the cameras, he’s busy with schoolwork, and as he puts it, "hanging out with friends." For the record, Michael says he really doesn’t miss going to a regular high school. He’s just enjoying what he’s doing now.

Q: Some time back, you mentioned that Chuck Norris was hob-nobbing with CBS about a possible new series. I read in my local paper that he was going to be doing some "Walker: Texas Ranger" reunion movies. What’s really going on? I’m a fan of Chuck’s and would welcome anything he’d do. Janine C.

A: As of right now, Chuck has no specific TV plans. He’s busy as a mo-tivational speaker for Christian ministries. As the founder of the Kick-Start Foundation, which keeps at-risk kids busy with the discipline of the martial arts and off the streets, he’s also devoting lots of time to that. The program is currently part of the curriculum in 30 schools and has over 4,200 boys and girls participating. If you recall, Kick-Start was featured in several "Walker" episodes

Q: I heard that new liberal talk radio network already launched. However, I can’t seem to find it anywhere on my radio dial. Do you have any info as to what markets they’re reaching?

Lisette D.

A: As of this writing, the network airs on about 400 stations. However, unlike the conservative talk shows they’re hoping to upset, their shows are not syndicated. Instead, thanks to contributions from some very wealthy liberals, they’ve had to purchase those stations in order to be able to air. I have no specific information as to what markets they’re in.
