MAN’S DEMISE

You have probably played the game where you pass a message from one person to another around a large circle. It’s fun to see how the message is changed when one person whispers it to another. Sometimes the meaning of the message is completely changed so that it is quite the opposite from when it began. We laugh because it is just a game. But when we are not playing games and a message is changed so that we receive the wrong information, the consequences can be drastic. For example, the Bible is God’s message to men and women. God says, "You shall not add to the word which I am commanding you, nor take away from it, that you may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you" (Deuteronomy 4:2). Now if you change God’s message by adding to the Bible or taking away from what it says, it becomes impossible to follow God. Why? Because, if you change God’s word, the Bible, you really don’t know for sure what God has said. All of this can have eternal consequences. You see, God calls you to trust in the death of His Son, Jesus Christ, as the only adequate payment for your sins. God says that trusting in Christ in the only way to heaven. If this message were changed or taken out of the Bible, then you could miss eternal life in heaven with God. You could spend eternity separated from the grace of God. Of course, this is just what God’s enemy, Satan, wants. Satan’s biggest trick is to change God’s word. He loves to whisper lies in your ear. He wants to turn you away from God and He wants to turn you away from the Savior, Jesus Christ. Don’t let him do it.
