Blankets & Towels Cleaning out your linen closet? Bide-A-Wee Home Association can always use your cast-off blankets, towels, comforters and even pillows. Bide-A-Wee can put them to good use, making life more comfortable for the dogs, cats, puppies and kittens awaiting adoption at the nonprofit humane organization’s animal shelters in New York City and on Long Island. Donations may be dropped off at any Bide-A-Wee shelter during normal business hours. Bide-A-Wee is located at 410 East 38 Street In Manhattan (212-532-4455), 3300 Bel Avenue in Wantagh (516-785-4079) and 118 Old Country Road in Westhampton (631-325-0200). It is requested that all items be washed and free of holes in which a pet’s head might get caught. Founded in 1903 to find new homes for dogs and cats, Bide-A-Wee recently celebrated its 100" anniversary and is one of the oldest not-for-profit humane organizations in the country. In addition to adoptions, other Bide-A-Wee services include veterinary clinics, pet memorial parks, a retirement home for older dogs and cats, and numerous community outreach and volunteer program such as humane education, pet-assisted therapy and bereavement counseling, Bide-A-Wee also employs a full-time trainer to work with shelter animals and to help adopters with their new pets.
