Comptroller Rep Praises Action
Bruce Solomon, Associate Director of Community Relations for City Comptroller William C. Thompson Jr., offered an effective way to help people in the neighborhood "cut through the bureaucratic red tape." He instituted the availability and usefulness of the Community Action Center during the 69 Precinct Community Council’s meeting on Tuesday, March 30. Dedicated to constituent services, the Community Action Center is a department of the Comptroller’s office, which can help in a variety of ways. When homeowners receive assessment notices in the mail from the Department of Finance and are not sure how to address the financial problems, they can contact the Community Action Center. "If you have a feeling that it is improperly assessed, call the number and speak to someone and they will help you with that problem," Solomon said. The Community Action Center can help people deal with water bills and pension problems. In addition, Solomon said, citizens should confirm the name of the representative who they speak with when calling the department in case a problem goes unresolved. This service is one of the many ways that will help Canarsiens. Solomon says he is thankful that the community voices their concerns and lets representatives know what is important to their quality of living. "The neighborhood in this community is as vibrant as it ever was," said Solomon. The Community Action Center can be reached by calling 1-212-669-3916. |
