TV Q&A By Evelyn Ludvigson 2004 DBR Media, NC Q: I thought after that whole Janet Jackson mess that MTV was going to clean up its act and air the racier videos later at night. However, one night recently, I caught a really raunchy video which was on before 9 p.m. I’m outraged since my kids were watching, and I had to turn it off. Why do they do this? Now I have parental locks on that channel. My kids hate me, but too bad! Laura C. A: MTV cleaned up its act immediately following that Super Bowl fiasco. However, they went right back to their regular scheduling in no time flat. Good for you! That’s what parental controls are for. More parents should use them. * * * Q: I heard "The Practice" isn’t going to be back next season. I’m not disappointed. It wasn’t the same show without Dylan McDermott. However, James Spader wasn’t bad. What will he do next? Jan F. A: Spader will star in a spin-off of the series next season. This one will involve high-powered attorneys engaged in civil, rather than criminal, lawsuits. * * * Q: What’s up with "Everybody Loves Raymond"? I know you’ve written about this before, but will the show be back or not? Emily G. A: At press time, it was reported that Ray Romano was close to a deal with CBS to keep the show going for one more season. It looks very promising. * * * Q: I love the show, "Charmed," and I think it’s fascinating that Piper (Holly Marie Combs) is pregnant with her second son, the Whitelighter who’s already grown up on the show. Is she pregnant in real life? Brianna L. A: Unlike her last TV pregnancy, Holly really is pregnant this time. She and hubby David W. Donoho are ex-pecting their first child any minute now. It’s their first. * * * Send questions to Ev c/o DBR Media, Inc., P.O. Box 21, Hopewell Jct., NY 12533, or e-mail: deckert @dbrmedia.com.
