Sony invites gamers to journey back to the enchanted realm of EverQuest with its top-notch hack-and-slash role-playing game, ‘Champions of Norrath.’

Rather than creating a standard sequel, Sony breaks the EverQuest mold by offering an exciting linear adventure that actually has a story line. Virtual heroes can undertake this perilous journey by themselves in single-player mode or share the mayhem by joining up to three more combatants online.

As the voyage begins, players can assume the role of a mighty Barbarian Warrior, a nimble Wood Elf Ranger, a powerful High Elf Cleric, a mystical Erudite Wizard or the intimidating Dark Elf Shadownight. Each class of fighter has its own strengths and weaknesses and can be upgraded with various offensive and defensive abilities.

After you have chosen your participant, it is time to literally "go medieval" on the enemy with a vast assortment of weapons.

This title sports gorgeous visuals, but sometimes the entire background is black upon entering a new area, and it takes a few seconds for the scene to be "drawn in."

Nevertheless, ‘Champions of Norrath’ is great fun.
