What’s Your Opinion?

“No, it wasn’t right for the mayor to do that. It’s not a fair vote. Just because you’re the mayor, you can’t have things your way.” Brian Berry, Canarsie

Question: Do you think the mayor was right to fire, then hire, members of the education panel so his policy to end promoting of third grade students who can’t read or write would
guarantee victory? Why?

“He shouldn’t have done that. It’s not fair to the city. He has all that money and he thinks he can do whatever he wants. But that’s not justice.” Tuvia Israel, Canarsie
“No, I don’t agree with the mayor’s position on the children or what he did with the panel. I don’t agree with the mayor because it should all be based on what’s best for the children. Don’t leave them behind like that.” Sharnell Harrington, Canarsie

“I feel the mayor has great organizational and financial skills, so it was all right for him to do that. He knows how to get things done. It’s blunt, but it works.” Freddy Haloway, Canarsie
