Interim President Is Appointed
At Kingsborough Community College

Dr. Fred B. Malamet has taken the helm of Kingsborough Community College as Interim President, the college announced today. Malamet was named by the City University Board Of Trustees in September to succeed President Byron McClenney who re-tired December 12th.

"It is an honor to be chosen to lead a college so well known for its quality faculty and programs." said Malamet. "I look forward to building on four decades of success,"

Malamet is known as an outstanding educator and administrator at Kings-borough for more than three decades serving in senior administrative and academic positions at the college, including such posts as Dean of Academic Affairs, Interim Vice Presi-dent and Dean of Faculty.

CUNY Trustee Chairman Benno C. Schmidt, Jr. announced the formation of a committee, headed by Trustee Wellington Chen to conduct a national search for a permanent president.

"Dr. Malamet is superbly qualified to lead the college during the transition period," Chancellor Goldstein said.

Dr. Malamet a professor in the De-partment of Behavioral Sciences and Human Service at Kingsborough, is a graduate of Brooklyn College, where he earned a B.A. in Psychology, Teachers College at Columbia Uni-versity where he earned a Masters of Arts in Student Personnel Administra-tion in Higher Education and a Pro-fessional Diploma in Administration of Higher Education, and of Rutgers University where he was awarded a Doctor of Education, Higher and Adult Education.
