Young Israel Of Canarsie Rabbi Boruch Leibowitz, Vice Presidents Irving Steinfeld and Barbara Rubin extend best wishes to the community for a joyous Chanukah. Services Thursday morning for Rosh Chodesh and Chanukah at 8AM and Friday morning at 6:20AM. Candle lighting for Friday evening parshas Miketz and the last day of Chanukah is 4:16 PM. Chanukah candles must be lit prior to that time. If for any reason the Chanukah candles cannot be lity by that time then omit lighting them. Shabbos morning the Rabbi’s class in the weekly faftera is at 8:30 followed by services at 9AM. Rabbi Leibowitz’s sermon is at 10:30. This week’s Kiddush is hosted by several members of the Synagogue and the congregation is cordially invited to participate. Shabbos afternoon the Rabbi’s class is at 3:15 Mincha at 4:15 and seudah shelishis. Shabbas ends with havsala at 5:23 PM. With deepest sorrow YIC records the passing of two prominent members of our Young Israel. Mr. Sid Gesser. A.H. served on our building committee 30 years ago and was also editor of our bulletin in its early years and involved in almost every Synagogue function throughout the years along with his dear wife Aileen. We also record with sorrow the passing of our long time Torah reader Mr. Max Apsel A.M. Our sympathies go to Aileen and family and to the Apsel family on their loss.
