Motorist Accused Of Trying To Bribe

Police During Flatlands Ave. Car Stop

During a routine car stop, police from the 69th Precinct arrested a man on a bribery charge last week when he allegedly offered them money to let him go after discovering he had what they said was a forged New York State identification card.

According to officials, the car stop took place on Flatlands Avenue and East 84 Street at 10:30 p.m. on May 29. Marcus Chasejuan, 29, of 49th Street, Brooklyn, was observed allegedly driving without a seat belt. When asked for identification, Chasejuan showed the bogus I.D. card and then, while being placed under arrest, offered the officers $110 to drop the charges and let him go, according to a report filed at the precinct.

Officers from the Brooklyn South Inspections Unit were called to assist in investigating the case and a tape recorder was secretly installed in an interrogation room at the Foster Avenue stationhouse, where the suspect allegedly again offered the arresting officers $100 in exchange for his freedom.

Captain Robert Johnsen, commanding officer of the precinct, along with Executive Officer Mark Evans, said the defendant was then placed under arrest and charged with bribery in the third degree and possession of a forged instrument. Charles Rogers
