Marine Park Is Site Of
Free Reading Today

The City Parks Foundation is currently hosting the 2001 season of Readings in the Parks, a program funded by Verizon Information Services. As part of the program’s summer session, schoolchildren in Brooklyn will be treated to a free reading by Patricia Shin, today, July 26 at 10:30 a.m. in Marine Park.

Verizon Information Services is funding the program for the third consecutive year with a $35,000 donation to the City Parks Foundation. The Foundation and the City of New York/Parks & Recreation plan and organize more than 50 summer readings throughout the city’s five boroughs.

Established in 1998, Readings in the Parks serves children between the ages of five and nine by offering 50 free storytellings of popular children’s books in nearly 40 parks and playgrounds.

For more information about reading times, parks and rain locations, call (212) 360-8290.
