Man Shot In Foot Leaving
Remsen Avenue Nightclub

By Charles Rogers

A resident of East Flatbush is listed in stable condition after he was shot once in the right foot by an unknown assailant on Remsen Avenue near Foster Avenue early last Saturday, police said.

According to Detective Sergeant Kevin Kirby of the 69th Precinct Detective Squad, Stewart Fahrquharson, 45, of Church Avenue told patrol officers he had just exited the Higher and Higher Club on Remsen Avenue at about 4:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 28th when a shot rang out and he fell to the ground.

Passersby called the emergency number "911" and police and paramedics arrived at the scene. Fahrquharson was taken to Brookdale Hospital for treatment.

"No weapon was found at the scene," said Kirby, "despite a full canvassing of the area." He said the victim could not explain why anyone would shoot him deliberately and thought it was a random act.

Last year, a man was shot after engaging in a dispute in front of the Higher and Higher Club. The man was able to escape his attacker but later died on Remsen Avenue near Flatlands Avenue. Police are still searching for his killer.

The detective asked that anyone with further information please call the Detective Squad at 257-6211. Calls will be kept confidential.
