Letter Carriers Holding Annual Food Drive

From May 7 through May 12 the National Association of Letter Carriers will conduct its annual food drive, Letter Carriers will be asking the public to donate canned and other nonperishable foods.

Last year, letter carriers were successful in collecting more than 54 million pounds of foo.d. In Brooklyn, they collected 40,000 pounds of food.

Letter carriers are asking that you help them surpass last years total by bringing food to your local post office during the food drive week. Donated food may be given to your letter carrier as well. Food may also be brought directly to the union office located at 2262 Bath Avenue.

All food collected is donated to "Food For Survival" a Bronx-based, non profit organization. This food will then be distributed to various organizations, food pantries and shelters throughout the five boroughs. Most of the food collected in Brooklyn is redistributed in the borough.

For more information about the food drive or how to donate food please contact: Angelo Mangano or Joe De Rossi at 718-373-0618/27.
