Stabbed 8 Times

Police Seek Breukelen Houses Suspect...

By Charles Rogers

Residents of the Breukelen Houses building at 254 Stanley Avenue were abruptly awakened at 3:30 a.m. last Saturday when they heard a ruckus in the front lobby of the building and discovered one of their fellow residents lying on the floor critically wounded.

Police from the 69th Precinct and Emergency Medical Service paramedics were immediately called and the wounded resident, Allen Class, 43, was taken to Brookdale Hospital by ambulance. He is currently listed in serious condition, police said.

According to Detective Sergeant Kevin Kirby of the local precinct’s Detective Squad, Class has been known to use an alias name of Allen Sanchez. Kirby said the victim had been stabbed "at least eight times" in the chest by an unknown assailant.

"According to Police Officer John Mauro, who helped investigate the case," Kirby said, "he put up a tremendous fight against the attacker and all he could tell us was that the assailant was a black man, about 29 to 30 years old and about five-feet, six-inches tall. He couldn’t tell us a motive for the stabbing."

The detective said robbery was ruled out because Class still had money and his wallet when he was found. He also said it wasn’t clear whether the instrument used by the attacker was a knife or some other sharp instrument.

"We know it was particularly vicious," he said, noting that a canvass of the area was undertaken and no weapon was found.

Anyone who might have information on the fight or the ensuing stabbing is asked to call the Detective Squad at 257-6215. All calls will be kept strictly confidential.
