Special Public Meeting Tuesday A special public meeting of Community School Board 18 has been scheduled for next Tuesday, January 30th at 8 p.m. at the Max B. Meyers School, Flatlands Avenue and East 101st Street. Resolutions to be discussed include the acceptance of the narrative summary of the district’s mid-year progress report. Superintendent Paula LeCompte Speed provided the board with a mid-year report indicating the district’s goals and objectives. Another topic under discussion will be the establishment of an education forum, to take place in early spring, to identify issues and make recommendations to enhance the quality of education in the district. A panel of educators and community leaders would be invited to participate in the forum. A third resolution scheduled for the agenda is regarding the establishment of a media campaign to promote various programs in intermediate schools. The campaign would highlight programs such as I.S. 211’s School of Television and Mass Media and I.S. 232’s Academy of Medical Science and other similar programs at local intermediate schools.
